Board Member Miguel Alban Transitions to Board Chair 

Congreso is excited to officially welcome Miguel Alban as our new Board Chair! 

Mr. Alban previously served on our board for three years and was recently the recipient of the “40 Under 40” award in 2021 by Al Día News. He is currently the Senior Vice President and Director of Multicultural Banking for Customers Bank. Get to know him below!

Corporate Partner Spotlight – Boeing! 

 

In honor of Latinx Heritage month, our Education & Workforce Services (EWS) and new partner  Boeing have teamed up! In October, Boeing and EWS will host I Heart Science Day "Steaming through Latin America"  right in our own backyard at our 2800 North American St. parking lot.  Through this partnership, Boeing will help our students gain fundamental 21st century skills relevant to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). There will be food, entertainment, and fun activities that will expose our students to culturally appreciative demonstrations that support their ability to think critically, solve problems, collaborate, be creative, and communicate effectively.

Congreso in the Community

For Latinx Heritage Month, the Congreso Familia was presente at the 37th Annual Feria del Barrio and Concilio’s Stroll the Harbor, two popular events celebrating Philadelphia’s Latinx community! Community members enjoyed live music, food, vendors, and community resources; Congreso’s Health Center Team  were also presente offering vaccines to community members!

Congreso Awarded Direct Relief fund grant 

This month Direct Relief announced 40 organizations nationwide that would be receiving $8.1 million in grants from its Fund for Health Equity. We're excited to share Congreso has been named one of those awardees! 
 
“We are pleased to bolster the indispensable work of these grassroots organizations striving to reduce disparities and increase equity among vulnerable populations,” said Dr. Byron Scott, MD, MBA, Co-Chair of the Fund for Health Equity and Board Director of Direct Relief and Chair of its Medical Advisory Council.
