Andreina Perez Hein Transitions into New Leadership Position at Congreso

The Congreso Familia would like to welcome Andreina Perez Hein into her new role of  Congreso’s Chief Development & Stakeholder Relations Officer!

Previously serving as the Board Chair and as a Board Member for over five years, Ms. Hein’s decision to transition into a more hands-on internal role came naturally as the pandemic led her to re-assess her own personal values and career commitments. When learning of this new position, she knew she wanted to return to the non-profit human services field.

“I was always passionate for the deeply impactful services Congreso provides for our Latinx community. As Board Chair during the pandemic, I saw first-hand the incredible adaptability and pivot by the Agency and its dedicated employees, despite the many challenges this time brought. I developed a new respect and admiration for the culture at Congreso,” shared Andreina. She continued, “this new role at Congreso not only affords me the opportunity to pursue my passion for giving back and helping the Latino community full time, but also to make use of my skills in strategic planning, business development, relationship building and cultivation in a more profound way.”

We look forward to working more directly with Andreina and are excited for the future!

Congreso Celebrates National Health Center Week

This month Congreso’s Health Center celebrated National Health Center Week (NHCW) from August 9th to the 13th! NHCW is an annual celebration which raises awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.

Each day of NHCW is dedicated to a particular focus area ranging from healthcare for the homeless, children’s health, and patient appreciation; this year’s theme was “the Chemistry for Strong Communities.”

“We were able to showcase this theme by inviting partners on site to share information about their programming,” said Judy Emmons, Congreso’s Director of Primary Care. Congreso partners at PHMC, including PHMC Dental and Health Promotion Council’s Nutrition Educator, led a cooking demonstration while The National Nurse Led Care Consortium Consortium did an interactive Myth or Fact game on the COVID-19 vaccine.

These larger activities were supported by Congreso’s various internal programs through tabling and resources which included the Family Empowerment Center, Education and Workforce services, Children and Youth services, and HIV Prevention program.

“Overall, it was a great week, and we ended with a team lunch and painting activity to celebrate the clinic staff and all that they do for our patients and community!“ said Judy.

Gracias to our partners for supporting us throughout this awesome week!
